  • Stuffed Ricotta Squash Blossoms

    Stuffed Squash Blossoms

I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a new recipe in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I love all my babies but this one is really something special.

    Cheesy Squash Blossoms

I started being more conscious of my health and what I ate three summers ago – this is when I started running and finally decided to check out the farmers’ market. I don’t want to be dramatic here but it was life changing and it has been an ongoing journey since. (more…)

  • Two Years of Blogging: What We’ve Learned

    Wei Leili NYCHey friends!

Today marks two years since this little blog of ours took its first steps into the real world, and we think that’s one hell of a feat (if we do say so ourselves). So today we’ve decided to share what we’ve learned these past two years, and also give you a little insight into our future plans. Because whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or you’re just now stopping by for the first time, you guys are what makes this blog worth writing every week. So, this one’s for you. (And for Harry Potter, wherever he may be now – anyone else excited about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming out today? Well, you should be.) (more…)

  • Turkey Meatballs with Tomato Sauce

    Turkey Meatball Bowls

I know. I know. Leili just put up a tomato sauce recipe and I’m doing something similar. As wacky as it sounds, sometimes we don’t always have time to smartly plan out our next recipes because we’re both busy gals. Also, not to point fingers, but Leili is a terrible texter. Seriously.

Maybe this public shaming will help her curb her response time. Shame. (more…)

  • Vegetable Ragù

vegan ragu on tagliatelleNecessity is the mother of invention.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been a staunch vegetarian. I’ve never really eaten much meat, so I naively thought that switching from eating a little meat to eating zero meat would be a cinch.

Well…I was wrong. (And I don’t admit that often. Just ask my boyfriend.)

  • Chicken Cabbage Dumplings

    Chicken Dumplings Chopsticks

Independence Day is finally upon us but fear not – there are no aliens coming to destroy Earth. Sorry, I just saw the film for the first time recently and I had to reference it somewhere.

    Chicken Dumplings Final 2

Aliens aside, are you guys prepared for our country’s birthday? I’m sure you are all stocked up on alcohol, sunscreen, and good company.  I also hope you’re all stocked up on food if you’re hosting, because that’s the only thing that matters – food and fireworks. For me, the best thing about parties are the appetizers; I would happily snack on appetizers all day. (more…)

  • Peanut Soba Noodles

    Peanut Noodles

You can never keep me away from noodles for too long. Our love is inevitable; no matter how people might try to tear us apart in the insufferable hot weather, I will still love my noodles. Because noodles can be served chilled. If I can’t enjoy a steaming bowl of ramen, then cold noodles are the next best thing.

  • Bacon Brussels Sprout Pasta Salad

    Brussels Sprouts Salad

Guys, I’ve been very bad lately and shopping and spending like Carrie Bradshaw in a Manolo Blahnik store. Except I don’t actually have that kind of dough, but I still find myself feeling extremely guilty whenever I check my bank account. I’m being a bad influence on Leili, too, but at least I’ll look fly while being an enabler. As my best friend Peter says, “I’m a baller on a budget.”

    Roasted Brussels Sprouts

    Elephant Garlic

To compensate my recent spending habits, I made a pact with myself to stop getting take out. That means no more sushi deliveries at 11PM. And I am glad to report I’ve been pretty good with this new compromise. To add to that, I’m finally in my exercise groove again and I’m making healthy meals for myself. They don’t teach you this in school, but sometimes irresponsible spending leads to healthier habits, because no money, no takeout. (more…)

  • Avocado Toast – Three Ways

    Avo Sampler

    Avo Sampler 2

Happy Monday everyone! I know – it’s the least favorite day of the week, but it’s a great excuse for lots of coffee, right? Actually I’m still pretty tired from Game of Thrones last night. Ned Stark, am I right?

    Toast and Prep

But I should get my mind back to reality and Monday. As much as I dislike the first day of the work week and as much as I love to whine about it, I always like to remind myself that it’s a good time to make productive and possibly healthy plans for the week. Monday is essentially a reset button for weekly goals and a pep talk with my belly. (more…)

  • Roasted Five Spice Pork Belly

    Pork Belly Platter 2

If you’ve read enough of our posts and seen the places we’ve gone, you would know by now we have a special love affair with pork belly. If this delicious cut of meat is on the menu, you best believe that we are going to order it and cry with joy while we devour it.

    Pork Belly and Rice

I think I told Leili not too long ago that I plan to post a new pork belly recipe each year because it’s just one more reason for me to eat it. If you are unfamiliar with this cut of meat or may have just heard the words floating around in the food scene, then allow me to break it down. (more…)

  • Scallion Ginger Pesto Pasta

    Scallion Pesto Pasta Cheese

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Leili and I love pesto! Ok, it’s no secret that we like to play around and reinvent ways to create this delicious green sauce. I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s fresh, adaptable, and goes with everything. This ginger scallion version is no different.
