Levain Copycat Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie Stack

Stop what you’re doing and listen up.

This hunk of chocolatey butter needs to be in your life. More specifically, it needs to be in your mouth.

I know I’m not the first (or even the hundredth) to recreate the Levain Bakery chocolate chip cookies. But, I have been making cookies for a long time. My mom’s been baking cookies for a long time. And I’m sorry, but her cookies are better than Levain’s.

    Yeah. I said it. (more…)

  • Best Chocolate Fudge Brownie Cookies

    Hey y’all.

Welcome back from all the holiday madness. Now we’ve got less than a week before 2017 is upon us. Are you ready?

I’m certainly not. That’s why this year, I’m going to try something new and totally out of character.

I’ve decided not to make any goals for the year whatsoever. (more…)

The Dr. Frankenstein in me is going crazy with glee since it came up with the secret ingredient to these cookies.

Maybe I’m not exactly Frankenstein. Thankfully. But my inner mad scientist always comes out when food is involved. Like when I made chocolate mousse with no dairy, or creamy ice cream without cream, or everything-free chocolate chip cookies. Unlike all those other times, though, I’ve altered this recipe to be even more gluttonous and dairy-full. And I have no regrets.

  • Brown Butter Strawberry Pecan Blondies

gooey brown butter strawberry pecan blondies

You may have noticed that I’m crazy about pecans.

Or, if you’re a normal person who doesn’t spend all their time stalking me, you may not have.

But I do, I love pecans. They’re a pricey nut, so I don’t bake with them often. When I do, I always immediately consider moving to Georgia and becoming a pecan farmer. That’s a thing, right?

  • Mayan Chocolate Cookies

Friends, I think I may have just fallen in love this year on Valentine’s Day. That’s right, I’m in love. I have fallen in love with the beautiful craft of baking. Especially cookies.

    Mayan Cookie Close Up

About a year ago, Leili gave me a cookie mix created by the amazing Ashley Rodriguez and from there I baked my first batch of perfect cookies. For months, I kept the empty container so I could read the ingredients and set out on my own to create my perfect cookies. I’ve concocted several recipes since that time and have had wonderful feedback, but I’m still chasing after more perfect cookies. Who doesn’t love a good cookie to sweeten up their day? (more…)

  • Buttery Snowflake Cookies

    Snowflake Cookies

Dear Santa, I’ve tried really hard to be a good person this year, but I’m human and I’m not totally confident I made it onto the Nice List. May I bribe you with some brown butter snowflake cookies to get back into your good graces?

As I’m looking back at this year, I realize I have not completed my 2015 to-do list, but I am going to cross the “new tattoo” off my list this weekend. I am a little anxious but even more excited to get something new at the end of the year. I fell short of my expectations for this year in many ways, but I have also made a lot of strides. (more…)

  • Chocolate Toffee Cookies

    Cookie Tin

Occasionally, a rainy afternoon will make its way into my very warm summer. On those days, I want nothing more than to stay in and inevitably develop a sweet tooth born out of boredom and laziness. I don’t like to be bitter about it.

    Cookie Hand

I usually end up at work though, and I have to carry my sweet tooth with me. Most days, I’m not picky as long as it fills my sugar hunger, but sometimes I need a really special cookie to do the job. This, my chocolate toffee cookie, is it – I think this might be my cookie soul mate. It’s one of those cookie recipes that I never mind repeating, because it tastes so damn good. (more…)

  • Flourless Chocolate Chip Cookies

pecan butter cookiesIt’s about time, guys.

I’ve been itching to share this recipe with all of you since the birth of this blog last year, but posting a recipe that’s been years in the making is like watching your baby head off to school for the first day of kindergarten. It’s so hard to let go. After years of effort, I can only hope it does well out there. It’s close to my heart, so naturally I want it to succeed. But no matter what happens, I will always love it.

    pecan cookies and milk

Too melodramatic considering I’m talking about cookies? Let me explain. It all started back in 2012 when I stopped eating gluten, dairy, soy, and all processed food for a couple months…right before I started working at a bakery.

    I never said I was sane. (more…)

  • Smoked Salty Almond Chocolate Cookies

    Stack

If you’ve read our About page, you would know that Leili and I met while working at a bakery in Boston. Allow me to garnish with extra information on our delicious friendship. Leili worked back of house as a baker while I worked front of house – we quickly became friends by talking about boys and her occasionally sneaking me sweets.

Between the two of us, Leili is the sweets and I am the salty. I have always been intimidated by baking but slowly unlearning that fear. This all changed very recently when Leili got me the Not Without Salt Cookie Mix by the great Ashley Rodriguez for Christmas.
