  • Zucchini Summer Salad

    zucchini plum salad servings

I like to pretend that I’m hard-working and up for any challenge, especially when it comes to this blog of mine. But it’s been three years now, and you deserve the truth: I’m really just a big ol’ lazy bum. (more…)

  • Peach Watermelon Caprese

    Peach Watermelon Caprese

I’m calling it – I’ve officially melted into the hot concrete in the hot city streets of Boston. I am frying like an egg and for the first time in my life, I don’t like that egg. Figuratively speaking. I’d be a weird little egg, especially fried.

All yolks aside, this heat wave is not doing me any favors. I can not run in this weather. It’s impossible to breathe and move around in this humidity. And like a true Bostonian, I know I’ll complain about the cold and wish for summer in just a few short months. By the way, I am not sorry for that yolk joke – I’m quite proud of it actually. This heat wave is not taking away my funnies.

  • Peanut Soba Noodles

    Peanut Noodles

You can never keep me away from noodles for too long. Our love is inevitable; no matter how people might try to tear us apart in the insufferable hot weather, I will still love my noodles. Because noodles can be served chilled. If I can’t enjoy a steaming bowl of ramen, then cold noodles are the next best thing.

  • Bacon Brussels Sprout Pasta Salad

    Brussels Sprouts Salad

Guys, I’ve been very bad lately and shopping and spending like Carrie Bradshaw in a Manolo Blahnik store. Except I don’t actually have that kind of dough, but I still find myself feeling extremely guilty whenever I check my bank account. I’m being a bad influence on Leili, too, but at least I’ll look fly while being an enabler. As my best friend Peter says, “I’m a baller on a budget.”

To compensate my recent spending habits, I made a pact with myself to stop getting take out. That means no more sushi deliveries at 11PM. And I am glad to report I’ve been pretty good with this new compromise. To add to that, I’m finally in my exercise groove again and I’m making healthy meals for myself. They don’t teach you this in school, but sometimes irresponsible spending leads to healthier habits, because no money, no takeout. (more…)

  • Sesame Shishito Salad

    Final

As the days are getting shorter, I’m kind of in a panic mode to get my summer bucket list out of the way. But that’s totally normal, right? Even as I’m writing this, I know I’ll never even out my tan lines in time for fall.

Fun fact: I go to the farmer’s market in Boston every week and each week they have something new and funky looking. Shishito peppers aren’t a new variety by any means, but I don’t cook them often because I only see them for so long. These small green peppers are fun to make since they can be prepared separately and consumed as a snack.

Another fun fact: These peppers are generally not spicy, but one out of ten peppers will surprise you and have you reaching for your closest glass of icy water. (That was also a warning for your taste buds.)
